The Grinch that Stole Christmas- From Herself

The Grinch that Stole Christmas- From Herself
Hate hate hate hate hate-
Double hate-
The time of the year when the streets are studded with bright lights and wrapped in tinsel, where choirs sing of peace on Earth and mercy mild-
Or wild?
I always mix up that line.

The saviour is born! Hope for the hopeless!
Blast this Christmas music! It’s Joyful and Triumphant.
A time where the lady selling breath mints on the street corner for a living, clutches on to the photograph of her missing daughter
and the life she once had. She wears a Christmas hat and a painted smile.
I know that smile-
that smile of quiet desperation. Longing in the hope that anyone can rescue you from the emptiness of your existence-
the feeling that your heart has no home, it endlessly wanders the Earth for security and refuge-
help me! I’m feeling.
Here we go, friends have invited me to come over and share in the Christmas cheer-
with them.
I sit here surrounded by mothers and their babies-
their families.
The opening of presents. Food and festivities-
with their loved ones.
4:00 – Wallow in self-pity
Laughter fills the air, whilst glitter and ornaments line the halls. People indulge on sweet treats and delicacies;
Trifle, turkey-
– eat, drink and being merry, they say.
Am I just eating because I’m bored?
Christmas reminds those who are orphaned just how lonely they are-
Even with a house full of people.
6:30- Dinner with me. I can’t cancel that again.
